Vote. Vote. Vote.

September 13th is election day. Most of the big races are special elections, but there are citywide primaries on both the Democratic and Republican side (including judicial races in Brooklyn).

In terms of the special elections, closest to home there one to replace Darryl Towns (who has moved on to the Cuomo administration) in the 54th Assembly District (Bushwick, Highland Park and Cypress Hill). The contestants in that race are Rafael Espinal, Jr., Jesus Gonzalez and Deidre Towns.

A bit further afield, there is the race to replace Anthony Wiener in the 9th Congressional District, which covers parts of central Queens and southern Brooklyn. The contestants there are Bob Turner (R) and David Weprin (D).

There are also special elections in the 27th Assembly District (Queens) and in the 73rd Assembly District (Manhattan), and a Democratic primary for the 28th Council District (Bronx).

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can find your polling place here.
