Friday, November 6th: Support NAG at our Annual Gala!

Tickets are available now to celebrate our 21st year of advocating for Greenpoint and Williamsburg. As always, it will be a fun evening, with plenty of food and libations from local restaurants and area bars, and dancing.

We’ve worked on so many projects this past year, and need the community’s support to continue our exciting programming! We hope you can join us to celebrate NAG and our honorees.

This year’s honorees focus on NAG’s core values: environmental health and justice, open space, and transportation. We will be honoring:

— T. Willis Elkins, of Newtown Creek Alliance and the North Brooklyn Boat Club,

— Karen Nieves, Community Board #1’s former transportation committee chairperson,

— Ed Raven, local business owner and advocate for Bushwick Inlet Park, and

— Pratt Institute’s Spatial Analysis and Visualization Initiative.

Some of our projects in 2015 included:

(1) The creation of an interactive GIS map which plots polluted sites in North Brooklyn (read more here: ),

(2) Hiring an environmental consulting firm to advise the community on the cleanup of the NuHart state Superfund site in Greenpoint – a site contaminated with phthalates across the street from a park and proposed
school, and

(3) Partnering with the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce to put on a series of Curb Your Litter events throughout Greenpoint.

At NAG, we’ve also been organizing the community on transportation improvements in the area, and have been working with Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park to make sure that the city follows through on its commitment to build a public waterfront park for Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

And of course, we continue to work with People’s Firehouse, Inc. to create a home for arts, activism, and community: the Northside Town Hall at the former Engine 212 site on Wythe Avenue.

So we have a lot to celebrate, and I hope that you will join us! Advance tickets available here.
