Participatory Budgeting Kicks off in Williamsburg

Last Wednesday night, the first Participatory Budgeting Neighborhood Assembly in the 33rd District took place at the Taylor-Wythe Houses in South Williamsburg.  About 40 community members discussed ideas for how they would spend $1 million of funding provided by Councilmember Stephen Levin.  Read more about PB here! Participatory Budgeting comes to Greenpoint & Williamsburg!

What would you do with $1 Million? There’s $1 million available in our community for improvements like parks, school repairs, transportation, and more. Best of all — we decide how it will be used! Community members from the 33rd District can propose projects and vote on which ones get included in the City budget. Loft Board to Discuss Rules…

The Loft Board published a set of seven rules in May for which they held a series of 3 public hearings to hear public comment during the second half  of July. We Spoke They Listened DID THEY HEAR US? Williamsburg Bridge Park Community Visioning

We have biked, walked, and driven past the city-owned land under/surrounding the Williamsburg Bridge for years. But on Sunday afternoon, in the beautiful backyard of the Woods, we put our collective heads together and talked about all the wonderful uses our community can imagine for that land as public open space.
