On Saturday, November 6th, NAG will hold its first-ever annual gala. We have been an active voice for the improvement of quality of life in North Brooklyn for 16 years, but this is the first time we have stopped to celebrate. And we have a lot to celebrate – we will be celebrating NAG’s accomplishments over the years, as well as the accomplishments of many of the community advocates who have partnered with NAG.
Our community has changed dramatically since 1994, and much of the positive change that we see today is due to the work that NAG has done over the past 16 years. As our community has changed, so has NAG’s mission – we began as an advocate in the fight against waste transfer stations on the waterfront, and have moved on to a broader array of issues related to quality of life, sustainable growth and economic equality in our neighborhood. But while our mission has changed, our core values and purpose remains the same -we continue to be a volunteer-based community planning and environmental justice organization that engages in grassroots organizing, advocacy and outreach in the North Brooklyn waterfront community of Williamsburg/Greenpoint. Today, NAG is North Brooklyn’s preeminent volunteer organization advocating for improved quality of life, good growth, access to parks and open space and other issues of social, economic and environmental justice.
We hope that you will join us on the 6th.
