YEAH! It’s July and that means that one of our beloved local greenmarkets is finally underway. The South Williamsburg Greenmarket reopens for the 2011 harvest season today, Thursday July 7th, and will be rocking out the local vegetables and fruits every Thursday through November.
Open since 1994, this staple weekday market located on the south side of Broadway on Havemeyer Street (right next to Echo Pharmacy, kinda below the JMZ) and is open from 8am – 4pm. This market is small but amazing, serving the Hasidic and Latino communities from the surrounding neighborhoods, providing much-needed fresh vegetables, fruits, & juices. You can grab lots of NY state products like tomatoes and sweet corn, but also specialty Latino products like papalo, pepiche and many varieties of peppers from farmers like Ana Angel.
* EBT/Food Stamps, Debit, Credit, WIC and FMNP checks accepted at market.2011
Note scheduled changes: The following market dates will be rescheduled from Thursdays to Tuesdays: 9/29/11 to 9/27, 10/13/11 to 10/11, and 10/20/11 to 10/18/11.
