Due to the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, we are postponing our clean up day until September 2015.
We hope to see you at our next clean up day on July 18 with the Newtown Creek Alliance!
NAG is partnering with Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce to help coordinate the Curb Your Litter Greenpoint series of community litter clean-up events and a waste characterization study.
On July 27th join the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce for the second Curb Your Litter: Greenpoint neighborhood clean up day with Greenpoint Reformed Church! We’ll meet in the front lawn of Greenpoint Reformed Church and spread out to pick up litter from the the northwest section of our neighborhood (bounded by Newtown Creek to the north, McGuinness Boulevard to the east, Calyer Street to the south and the East River to the west).
Come out to do something about our neighborhood’s litter problem! You’ll get the chance to collect data about the trash on our streets and sidewalks to help us design ways to stop it at the source. This is a great way to meet your neighbors and learn all about garbage and recycling in NYC with our team of sustainability experts.
The remaining events for this year are on July 18th (northeast Greenpoint) and Aug 22nd (southwest Greenpoint).
All of the events are on Saturdays 10:00am-1:00pm, with a free lunch for all volunteers at 2:00pm. The litter characterization (meticulously sorting and weighting portions of the litter collected) takes place 2:00pm-4:00pm.
If you’re interested in finding out about becoming a volunteer leader, please RSVP above and also email firstname.lastname@example.org.
